Get Out the Vote Block Party with Las Cafeteras

Las Cafeteras will lead a celebration and testimonial event on political empowerment and activism. The block party will feature short performances by Las Cafeteras and music curated by WDCE 90.1 FM. The artists, alongside campus members, will share their thoughts on what it means to participate in our democracy from the local level to the national stage. All are invited to our open mic and/or chalk display to share your perspective on why do you vote?

This free event takes place Wednesday, October 16 from 12:00 - 1:00pm in The Forum.

Los Angeles-based band Las Cafeteras is a group of Chicano artists and activists who use music as a vehicle to build bridges among different cultures and communities to create “a world where many worlds fit.” They will create joyous music, inspire conversation, and maybe even want to make you dance to the polls.

Presented in partnership with the Modlin Center for the Arts and Bonner Center for Civic Engagement as part of Election 2024.

Las Cafeteras performs at Modlin Center on Friday, October 18 at 7:30pm. Tickets are free for UR students and $20 for UR employees. More information and tickets can be found at modlin.richmond.edu.
